What ho, LJ-land! Things have happened since my last post - many Things, including but not limited to: two countries*, one exam, one epic Megaupload fiasco (? I'm still catching up on this) and Other Stuff which I will inevitably forget to post about, and that's fine. (But my God, I still haven't made my New Year's Resolutions yet - maybe on the bus Friday, with Hanna...)

UNDER THE CUT: Happy Discworld blather and POSSIBLE TMI re: food/body image/Sarah being just plain weird and annoying )

I HAVE BEEN TO GERMANY!

Well, technically it's been a week since I was in Germany (and if you want to get reaaaally nitpicky about it, I've been in Germany once before, to visit Tante Freidl - but I was in grade four then, so that doesn't count for these purposes), but I'm just getting to the post now, because a) there's a lot to process and b) NO TIME OMG.

Let's start the journey!
Nuremberg, part 1 )
PART 2

*He's also famous for writing the Mare Liberum, among other things, which formed the basis for international law. But he's most famous for the escape he orchestrated, involving his wife, a book chest, and a serving girl.

NOW I HAVE TO ACTUALLY EDIT THE DAMN THING. YEAH, CAUSE THAT'LL GO WELL.

ANYWAY, I HAVE NO PRIORITIES, BUT I DO HAVE A NEW BOOK! (LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL, Chloe and I are the worst shoppers ever, because we both believe in impulse buying and we went to Chapters. FLASDFA; I JUST READ A DISC!DRABBLE ABOUT ASSASSINS AND THE PATRICIAN AND NOW I WANT FIC WHERE ATTEMPTING TO SNEAK INTO THE PATRICIAN'S PALACE IS SOME SORT OF HAZING RITUAL - OR AN UPPER-YEAR EXAMINATION, HARD TO TELL THE DIFFERENCE SOMETIMES - IN THE ASSASSIN'S GUILD, AND AT THE END, VIMES** IS LIKE "WAT ARE U DOING YOU MOTHERFUCKERS YOU ARE ALL SILLY BUGGERS" AND FLOUNCES OUT.

AND NOW THE IMAGE OF VIMES TRYING TO FLOUNCE IS STUCK IN MY HEAD ;ASLDFJA I LOVE THE INTERNET. HOLIDAYS SHOULD HAPPEN MORE OFTEN.

*HOLY SHIT, A POST ALMOST ENTIRELY IN CAPSLOCK, THIS IS NEW ;P
** Because Vimes can never Not Be Involved. What are you, new?
HOOOOOOOOOOLY CRAP, I JUST FINISHED READING TERRY PRATCHETT'S UNSEEN ACADEMICALS, THE LATEST INSTALLMENT IN HIS DISCWORLD SERIES, AND I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT IT THAT THE MOST COHERENT THOUGHT I CAN MUSTER GOES SOMETHING LIKE THIS: !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lj cut for your safety: none of this will make any sense unless you've read the book/are familiar with Discworld. Also, spoilers for Unseen Academicals, but you knew that already. )

*I am sure there are other people who respond to above-average levels of excitement in the same way I do. I just haven't met them yet.
**This paragraph is also technically a Tyranny.

ALSD;FKJA;DFA; HOMG SO. I JUST* FINISHED PTERRY'S THE TRUTH AND WOW OK GUYS WOW.

I'm not really sure how to be coherent about the plot, but here, have some random jot notes I made to myself as I read:

spoilers for The Truth (PTerry's book, not any episode of anything on TV) )

In other news, the bronchitis is fine. Because as a human being, I have no need for oxygen at all. Really.

*Well, technically it was this morning.
Saw TDK for the third time today. Saw it in IMAX, finally. Was fucking EPIC, obviously.

Watching it, I have decided that Jim Gordon=Sam Vimes, trufax. Don't know how I didn't see it before.

And they showed the Watchmen trailer!

That is all.
I wonder if anyone's ever compiled a Discworld playlist/mixtape-type-of-thing? What songs d'you think it would include? Definitely some Songs With Rocks In, but what else? It would be massive to accommodate all (or most of) the cultures of the Disc, and then all (or most of) the main/recurring minor characters... And then there'd have to be multiple songs for the majority of the characters because that's How Things Are Done. Er.

And it would make up multiple posts because people would keep adding their own interpretations of different songs, but even before that, the initiator would probably want to include a few snippets on specific songs in re: why they're included and whom/what they represent, etc., etc..

And alright, I'm tempted to do it. But a) there's not really a large audience, is there, and b) my taste in music is probably... questionable by others' standards. I wouldn't know. I've never bothered to find out. (And c) TIME?)

Regardless. It's a fun thought.

What would Vetinari listen to, I wonder? (His little read-me Wossname doesn't count.) Can You Feel the Love Tonight? - Elton John. Obviously.
Or Death?  Would he  be into ... I don't know, Gregorian Chants? Or maybe musicals or something? *coughMontyPython'sMeaningofLifecough*

The entirety of   Soul Music: Party Like A Rockstar - Shop Boyz
The Watch? The Watch is easy: I'll Make A Man Out of You -- Mulan Soundtrack
Trufax.
AUGH HELP MEEEEEE!  I hate exams with an undying, unyielding passion. I'm no good at them. I spent the last two/three days (and partly nights) solid studying and my english exam was crap (but my french thing went ok for three hours of sleep), and now I'm really really nervous for bio, so instead of studying I'm revisiting the idea of the run-on sentence in this post. It's about a variety of stuff.
