Contradictio in Terminis

Wow, it feels like forever since I've rec'd something on here (mostly because I am still slowly working my way through the multitude of kink meme WIPs in my stumble queue), but jazie_star 's Run for the Light is so brilliant I couldn't wait. It's a movieverse!Thor/Supernatural crossover and I was skeptical at first because, whoa, intense much? But OMG OMG OMG I am having such a hard time being coherent about this because it's really, really good. The characterization of Loki and Thor is bang-on; and I love how their relationship is shown in a way that resonates simultaneously with both astounding complexity and visceral, basic truth. Loki's struggle with his Jotun-ness also lends an undercurrent of tension to this fic and just ;klasdf;klajsd;flkjasd;lkj GO READ is all I can say.

This fic is rapidly winning the contest for highest number of re-reads in shortest amount of time. It is sweet and wonderfully characterized, and makes all the important circuits in my brain stop and go hhhnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnggggghhh. (Also, it's written by copperbadge . I'm only a little bit biased.)

Feels like it's been a while since my last post. (Yeah, it's a problem when my idea of "internet deprivation AUGH THE PAINNNNNN" is a grand total of ...3 days.)

Friday night started at four thirty with a fencing dinner. The upper year fencers are awesome and will talk extensively about anything from WOW to IMAP/POP servers to Alan Moore's intrinsic awesome. Uber excited to get to know them better. (Unfortunately, theytend to be a bit cliquey, so my fencing buddy and I have decided that when we are upper year fencers, we will welcome all newbies with open arms and inclusive topics of conversation.) There's this mysterious thing called the "Flunge" taking place next weekend, which I am so confused about but really excited for. My spidey-senses eavesdropping tells me it's something to do with "rookies" and "yeah, I jumped in the lake [Ontario], shit". So I really hope some other newbies are attending, cause there's no way in hell I'm going to that alone. Fencing ended at 11, btw and then as soon as I got back to my room, my floormates were all "why are you not over here omg!" so I chilled with them for a bit. And then sleep. Finally.

CASTIEL'S CHARACTERIZATION IS WONDERFUL AND HEARTBREAKINGLY ENDEARING, AND I CAN'T EVEN EXPRESS HOW MUCH THIS FIC MADE MY DAY, SO YOU SHOULD CHECK IT OUT 35 minutes ago NOW.

I don’t know how many of you are into RPF and/or RPS, but if you are, then you should definitely check out rageprufrock’s fic D:. (Star Trek 2009, RPS, Chris Pine/Zachary Quinto)

Why?

Ok, first of all, the title is D:, which, come on, how is that not the best title ever? Second, it’s a collab involving rageprufrock, so you know it’s going to be good (because seriously, her fic? ♥ to a degree that is truly stupid). Finally, just, oh God. The hilarity! The camaraderie! The douchebaggery! The tenacity with which the rest of the cast and crew believe that they’re sleeping together! It’s well-written, with great dialogue, cracked-out humour and pitch-perfect characterization – by which I mean Chris Pine is a douche but still kind of adorable, Zachary Quinto has terrible taste in clothes, and Karl Urban just kind of steals the show in every way possible. Also, have I mentioned how inappropriate it is? So wonderfully inappropriate; it’s the type of thing you read and then berate yourself for the next day, saying “Oh God, why did I ever read that, I should not have found it amusing at all”. Of course then you read it again to wonder at the depths to which you have sunk and you’re all “AHAHAHA OH GOD WHAT I LOVE IT” – unless that’s just me.

Anyway, while I was writing this, it totally stopped raining and the sun even tried to come out, which is a pathetic fallacy sign from Shakespeare God that you should start reading right now.
