Dear hormones:
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
Sincerely,
Sarah
This is so not what I need right now! Arrgh, and just when it was all going so well too. Fuck. So, my friend Iqra and I were house hunting, right, and today was the day when we saw the last unti we were considering. Basically it's perfect: the location is fantastic, the utilities are included, and the toilet even looks like it might flush if you prayed hard enough. The monkey wrench? It's a great fit - for two people. And Iqra? Decided she wants another housemate. Who's a dude. And an engineer. She wants him to room in what was supposed to be the living room.
I am pretty well opposed to this, but I'll probably end up going with it anyway. See, her dad is going to lose his job at the end of the summer, and that's going to be a major impact on her financial status. So, having three people split the rent is a good idea. Which, as I've already stated, I'm opposed to, but I feel like refusing him outright would be a bit of a blow to her, especially since there's a recession going on and good luck to her dad trying to find employment anytime soon. I don't want to be any more of a total bitch than I have to be.
Although TBH I think the thing that pisses me off most is that she didn't tell me any of this before today. We've been looking at places all week. There was plenty of time for us to ask to see three-person units, and I definitely would have taken it better if she'd given me even an inkling of what was going on. Now, I'm left with one housemate I don't know (I've spent a total of half an hour in his company - I don't even know how to spell his name!) and one who apparently leaves out all the important details til the last minute. Not exactly a way to build a healthy relationship, guys.
To be fair, Iqra is being really supportive about this, especially since I called her and confronted her about, um, everything. We've agreed that I can have dibs on the nice(r) room in the unit, which would allow me a) privacy and b) privacy. She was also willing to call Hasan (sp?!) so we can all talk everything over tomorrow; and she really wants us all to get to know each other. And again, her dad's soon-to-be-nonexistent job. So I feel like turning him down is a dick move. I mean, the school year is only about eight months long. Plus holidays and stuff. And people live in way worse conditions than this; I'm sure we could make it work.
(Whether "making it work" correlates to me getting the marks I need to qualify for exchange in third year is a different - and not wholly pleasant - matter. But if I have to spend all year at the library, I will, because I am going on exchange, goddammit.)
And just. It's not only the housing; today was the psyc midterm, and now I want to curl up and die for a thousand years because apparently I'm no good at all at coping with stress, given the sobfest I almost had after I walked out of the exam room.
Neal Caffrey, please ameliorate my existence with your awesome!
