WOOOOHOOOOOOO~~~~~~~~~
THAT MOVIE. IT WAS. YES. WOW.
la;wekrn;awekrj;asefjajrka;kwe4rter;a MUST REWATCH!
OKAY SO.
First off: IT WAS MAJOR AWESOMESAUCE!
Good. Glad we're clear.
I liked it. It was, all things considered, very faithful to the graphic novel (it was so weird seeing these sceenshots, and being all like "I totally know that panel!"). I was incredibly pleased with all the actors - they were fantastic! Dan was *so* adorable and Laurie was kickass, and Dr. Manhattan wasvery naked really epic or at least his junk was. AND VEIDT. HELL YES. He was quite good, but needed MOAR GHEI (wait, when do things not need more gay, that's the question). Although major lulz at his colour-coded assistant.
AND RORSCHACH, OMFG. (He gets his own paragraph.) HOLY MOTHER OF GOD YESSSSSSSSSS. OH JACKIE EARLE HALEY, WHY SO AWESOME? Just - just he really kind of got Rorschach for me, which I wasn't really expecting because dude, it's Rorschach. But even the "GIVE ME BACK MY FACE" scene was epic, so yeah, two thumbs up. AND HOLY SHIT, HOW BADASS WAS HE IN THE JAIL SCENE, HUH? HE FUCKING KICKED ASS. XD
SPEAKING OF FIGHT SCENES, the ones in Watchmen were ace. Booyeah!
BUT. ALTHOUGH I HAVE AN IMMENSE AMOUNT OF ADMIRATION FOR HOW SYNDER PULLED THIS OFF, MY HEART IS FOREVER BROKEN. A TRAVESTY OF THE HIGHEST ORDER HAS OCCURED. THERE WAS NO FRIDGE-NINJA SCENE.
I KNOW. I WAS CRUSHED. That was totally my favourite scene in the comic. 'cause it was so badass, but it wasn't fucking there. WHY, SNYDER, WHY? I was reallllllllly looking forward to that. AND during Rorschach's whole "let me tell you about Rorschach" part, y'know when he finds the murderer and chains him to a pipe, leaves him with a saw and then lights his house on fire? THAT WAS NOT IN THE MOVIE. WHAT. >.< UNHAPPY FACE. (Oh, and one other nitpick of mine: the soundtrack seemed to dominate the scene during some parts).
Nonetheless, all is mostly forgiven, thanks to the "HOMOSEXUAL HANDSHAKE". In which DAN AND RORSCHACH SHOOK HANDS. SUBTEXTUALLY. IT'S EVEN MORE GAY THAN IN THE COMIC*. And there was also the "AMOROUS ARMGRAB" in which DAN attempted to stop RORSCHACH from committing suicide via VEIDT!RAGE. (PS: VEIDT WAS FABULOUS. DUH).
One of my favourite parts, though, was near the ending when Rorschach went all 'splodey, and Dan went all "MENTAL BREAKDOWN SMASH" on Veidt (cause it was Veidt's plan that killed Rorschach, obv.). I was all "YES!" and there was definitely some flailing. Veidt looks very pretty when he's just been beaten up. UNF.
And Laurie and Manhattan were so cute, with his all "When you left me, I left Earth" <3 LAURIE AND DAN WERE DORKY AWKWARD COSTUMEDSEX LOVE. (PS: Hooded Justice and Captain Metropolis. SO DOING IT.)
BUT REALLY, I NEED TO SEE IT AGAIN. Mostly because I want to actually watch the movie for the movie, instead of spending the whole thing trying to compare the movie to the book. A;LDK;ALWER SO GOOD.
(Aaaaaaaaaand, Public Enemies is coming out sometime soon, I think, and fuck, I am all over that movie like there's no tomorrow.)
* IT'S LIKE BROKEBACK IN A HANDSHAKE.
...my icon basically represents my feelings on the movie.
