OMG WE ROCK.

OKAY. I have about seven projects due tomorrow (not even kidding), and four of them are culminating activities. It's kind of stressful. BUT. That doesn't even matter AT ALL.
Why, you may ask.
BECAUSE WE FUCKING WON THE SOUTH REGIONAL GIRLS' TIER II RUGBY FINALS, THAT'S WHY!
OUR FIRST YEAR EVEN HAVING A RUGBY TEAM AND WE WON FINALS! No team even scored a try on us during the official season! This game was against Central Tech, and the final score was something like 36 - 0. Because we fucking rock.
But omgoodness, the CT girls were so psycho. Especially this one girl who actually punched one of our team members. And she shoved our hooker so hard she did a face plant. Furthermore, she actually purposefully kneed another one of our players in the stomach, and the ref still let her play. That girl was a BITCH.
Ok, rant over, let me tell you about HOW AWESOME OUR TEAM IS. In the first half, we did alright, but for a while, the ball was in our end and our team kinda panicked because honestly, we're not used to having the ball in our end. But it was all sorted out during the second half of the game.
And actually, I'm still just so ecstatic that I got to play, never mind the winning. Imagine getting to finals and then not being able to play? That would've been awful. Thank goodness Tait let me play.
Back to the game. Ok, so there was rucking and running and tackling and stuff and the game play was intense, but fairly even. I don't remember much; it all kind of blurs into one thing really, when you're out there, although Mike declares that he was continually shouting pointers from the sidelines. But you can't hear much when you're out on the field. The adrenaline kind of wipes it all away.
And speaking of adrenaline, there was a line-out, and we caught the ball, passed it to our full-back who kicked it and sent it flying into CT's endzone. Two CT girls immediately broke for it and I just bolted after them. I was just running thinking about getting to the ball, and it registered that I must have been going pretty fast because none of my teammates were near me. It was just me running full out and it felt infinite. It felt right, although that probably sounds really stupid, it's the only way I can think of to describe it. And then the girl got to the ball and looked up to pass it to her teammate and I tackled her. The ball never got anywhere. I remember bearing down on her, the expression of surprise on her face and then BAM! and I thought: this is rugby.
It felt so good when I was running because normally running is just a faster way of getting from one place to another, but I had a purpose this time, and that's what made the difference. Give me a good reason and I'll do it. It was quite exciting.
Apparently, it looked very cool from the sidelines.
Anyway, not saying I saved the game or anything, but it was really, really fun. But you should have heard us cheering when the ref blew the whistle and we realized we won the Finals. Oh man, it was something. No trophy but we did get an awesome plaque and shiny medals which we are all wearing to school tomorrow (lol at the look on my english teacher's face when I do my presentation).
I'M SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW :-D
