Hee.
I'm currently reading three books:
- The Handmaid's Tale, by Margaret Atwood, whom my terrifying and forbidding English teacher fangirls like you wouldn't believe. I'm not so far in this book (aha, like, the first chapter), but apparently it's quite a good read and I'm looking forward to it.
- Second, Arrow's Flight by Mercedes Lackey. This is the second book of three, but those three are the beginning of a universe quite like that of Tamora Pierce (whom I fangirl shamelessly), except Talia's not trying to be a knight; she wants to be a Herald. The series definitely has promise, and I can see why C. is so into it, with all the characters and stuff, but... I don't know. The main character spent about 70% of the first book crying, and all the other characters all flocked to help her, and she's thirteen and the adviser to the effing Queen, and it's not really feasible for me, is all I'm saying. I mean, I adore some of the other characters, but Talia, kick a little more ass, if you don't mind. However, I'm (again) not really that far into the second book (you can tell because there's no bawling), and ok, the outfits they get to wear? I am jealous. </shallowness>
- Third, and most excitingly: the Song of the Lioness series by Tamora Pierce. I decided I needed to reread it after finishing Arrows of the Queen and hankering for something in which the main character did a little more than cry and counsel people about their emotions. Maybe I'm a heartless bitch, I don't know. But Alanna definitely kicks ass, and after this, I get to read Daine's series and then I get to read Kel's series and then Bekka's book, and I AM EXCITED because I love her work to a degree that is truly stupid. (sbp)
Three books. Three books. I am a very happy person right now.
Ignoring, of course, all the shit that's going down with our french teacher, and I should call donna, but won't because a) I'm forgetful and b) I really don't want to talk to her cause I don't want to volunteer at the store anymore.
But, three books. :-)
(also, Noel Feilding is <3)
