YES! IT IS MINE! AT LAST!

I HAVE THE FOURTH RANGER'S APPRENTICE BOOK! IN MY HANDS! (well, ok, i'm typing right now, but on the table beside me at any rate. Close enough.) I GOT IT TODAY AND I STARTED READING IT ON THE SUBWAY AND OMG IT IS FREAKING HILARIOUS!!!! (I made myself wait until I got home to actually read it in depth, after I post this)
LIKE, YOU DON'T EVEN UNDERSTAND HOW HAPPY I AM TO HAVE THIS BOOK. I WAS SKIPPING - SKIPPING! - ON THE WALK HOME FROM THE STATION. I AM ELATED.
OTOH, Waaaaaaaayyy long ago (oh god it took my coherency too) after i read the third book, I wanted to write a fic about how Will and Evanlyn would escape their hideout by teh powers of Awesome and they'd meet Halt and Horace and MAJOR BRICK-SHITTING would take place, esp. in Halt's part.
By the end of the first chapter? JOSSED. ALL JOSSED. I was crushed. Indeed, i think I spent several seconds staring into space on the train while I contemplated this fact, with an expression of the utmost agony and torment on my face. I think I quite unnerved a lady sitting across from me. But anyhow.
SO GOOD.
ETA: OMFG THAT WAS THE MOST AMAZING BOOK IN THE WORLD! OK, IT WAS FUCKING HILARIOUS AND ALSO, THERE WAS EMO!HALT AND SASSY!HALT AND I THINK HALT/JARL ERAK IS MY NEW OTP OF MANLOVE AND/OR SNARK BECAUSE HELL YESS!
complete with cameos of intense!Horace, pissy!Will and manIfeellikeawoman!Evanlyn. Also, her Daddy, which was cute. but omg the Halt!snark was so good. SO GOOD. there was also some kick ass fighting and shit. so yeah. I definitely recommend this book to everyone.
ooh, and there was foreshadowing and ANGST (well, not as much as book three) and SRS EMOTIONAL DRAMA between our triumvirate of teenaged heroes and I LOVED IT.
(except, ok, where the fuck was Gilan in this? I mean, logically I know he's in Araluen, but FOR SERIOUS he's like my favourite character after Halt and OK GILAN YOU CAN MAKE AN APPEARANCE NOW!)
