I love dance, I love dance, I love dance. ♥

There was a SURPRISE!EXAM JAM DANCE CLASS today, which Julie taught - it was amazing! :D We got through 2:15 minutes of choreo in 1.5 hours - not too shabby ;p It was a challenging class - Julie said she was going to teach quickly, and she sure kept her word - but I'm so glad I went. We (well, I - the other girls all had actual dance training, and were far more advanced) learned a lot of things, like penchées and something Julie likes to call the "Beached Whale", which is kind of hard to explain in writing, but looks excellent when people can actually do it. If I can find a video that is not on facebook, I will try and link it. Probs should have been studying for those 2 hours I spent in the studio, but dance is forever a better use of my time. So. Much. Love.

ALSO, [livejournal.com profile] copperbadge  emailed me today about ordering his book, Charitable Getting, so I was VERY EXCITE when that message came in. I am such a creeper.

QDC JUST DANCE 2011 = MY LIFE ♥

I can't believe dance is over! There is a gigantic gaping void in my life now, where dance class used to be, and I can't believe that it's all gone by so fast.

Recital was a huge success! :D I haven't gotten much audience feedback (parents don't count; I think they were more preoccupied with my haircut), but on Saturday, the crowds were amazing, and being on stage felt amazing, and the other dancers were amazing, and it was all ~so beautiful~ ;asldkfjals;d I AM WHELMED BY THE AWESOME!

alors on danse~ )
I wish we could all just dance forever. ♥________♥

*I keep wanting to make self-deprecating jokes about people seeing me in my underwear, and then I remember that for Videodance, my costume was underwear, so it's a bit late to be worrying about modesty, I guess.
A;SLDKFJA;SLD;LAS GUYS GUYS GUYS YOU GUYS HOLY FUCK THE DANCE RECITAL IS GOING TO BE FUCKING AMAZING I AM SO WHELMED RN I CAN'T EVEN ;ASLKDFJA;LSDKJFA;LSDJ;LAST ALL OUR COSTUMES LOOK *SICK* AND PEOPLE LOOOOOOOVE MY GAGA OUTFIT ;ASKDFJSA;L;AD I AM JUST LIKE ALL THE HAPPY RIGHT NOW. WHO CARES IF I ONLY HAVE TWO MINUTES TO CHANGE BETWEEN MY CONSECUTIVE NUMBERS, THIS SHOW IS GOING TO ROCK THE FUCK OUT!!!!!!!
Mom, Dad and I just got back from a showing of the 2011 CanAsian International Dance Festival at the Fleck Dance Theatre. It was awesome! The first part featured some traditional Korean dancing; the second part showed a woman's search for closure after the death of her master (the dancing was really powerful, IMHO, but I spent the entire thing praying for her strapless dress to just hold on a little longer); the third part featured a man with the most fantastic abs I've ever seen performing a routine in which he whirled like a dervish for 45 minutes. I don't know how to describe it, but it was massively impressive, and also somehow a commentary on meditation in motion. He had these amazing skirts that almost seemed to move of their own accord as he turned; he kept taking them on and off, and throwing the up in the air throughout the performance. But NGL, I was mostly distracted by his abs.

In conclusion: awesome.

Other awesome things that happened today included finally satisfying my craving for Dundas Pizza garlic bread. A;SLDFJKASDHGHGLLSDF I bought some for lunch today, and it was so good. Then [livejournal.com profile] cherishedsaulie  and I hit up the Eaton Centre, where it was determined that I should never be allowed out in public ever again. Not technically my fault, though: you would laugh maniacally and slightly hysterically too if you had seen the Evan Lysacek Is The Swan Queen shoop. IT WAS BEAUTIFUL AND MY LIFE IS NOW COMPLETE.

So yeah, repressing the morning incident, today was a good day.
Ach. I had a lovely post typed up that I'd spent an embarrassingly long time laboriously typing up on my iPod, and then I touched the wrong part of the screen, and alas. No saved draft.

Clearly I will have to leave the mobile posting to another time.

Here's the summary:

I'm going to go remedy that now, as I have conveniently realized that I have not one but THREE chapters of cognitive psyc to catch up on before I can start studying for next week's midterm. TO THE BOOKS!
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE OH MY GOD!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE x< 9000 DANCE!!

AAAAAAHHHHHH I JUST GOT BACK FROM OUR LAST SHOW, AND JUST. WE KILLED IT, WE FUCKING KILLED IT. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

I mean, there were some mistakes, obviously (ie: I completely froze  and forgot my footwork for hip hop in the Saturday matinee) BUT OH MY GOD DANCE IS LIKE THE BEST THING THAT'S HAPPENED TO ME EVER I LOVE IT SO MUCH. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥♥ ♥ ♥ ♥♥ ♥ ♥ ♥♥ ♥ ♥ ♥♥ ♥ ♥ ♥♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

And our Inter Lyrical number was so awesometastic; everyone knew their choreo and even though there were some spacing mishaps on stage, we pulled it off like nothing. ♥ Also, we almost reduced Julie to tears when we gave her her card+gift at the end, aaaaawww~~~

And Bri was so proud of us too (she gave me a high five after every show, I just about died ♥ ).

This is our Beginner Hip Hop class at dress rehearsal:

And this is our Intermediate Lyrical class at Friday's show, because I have no idea how to embed things from facebook.

Dance is so much fun, and I can't wait till it starts again next year (like, actually, I. Cannot. Wait.)

I AM SO HAPPY~ :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
Well, I have always wanted to dance around in the middle of the street - thank you, [livejournal.com profile] thatdayismine  for helping me achieve this particular goal. It was awesome. ♥
For some reason, I always feel like I can sing better after I exercise. The more intense the exercise, the more talented I feel.

I mean, not that it means I can sing well. I'm about as musically talented as a brick. But there you have it.

Does anyone else get like this, or is it just me?

AND AND AND ALSO OKAY so today was the last dance class of the year *BAAAAWWWWWW* Tuesday is dress rehearsal, and Thursday is opening night (OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF) and  I AM SO EXCITED. Inter lyrical was much cleaner this time 'round, and Hip Hop is just going to be SO MUCH FUN. We got our costumes today, and asdl;fjas;dfk WE ARE GANGSTAAAAA (inasmuch as a bunch of people from Queen's can be gangstaaa...) AND SLIGHTLY REMINISCENT OF MJ AND FFFFFFFFF I CAN'T WAITTTTTTTTT.

But basically there's no more dance till October after Saturday, so I'm going to dance my heart out. ♥
I want to dance.

I want to dance I want to dance I want to dance, oh my God, I want to dance.

I don't want to book guidance appointments or read my psyc textbook or chat on facebook; I want to dance. I want to be in Studio 3 of the ARC, in my sweats with the music flooding the tiny room, and I want to dance.

I want to see myself in the mirrors lining the walls; I want the hardwood floor under my feet; I want the artificial studio lights and I want to dance and forget about everything else now.

I want effort and practice and endless repetition. I want the boneless dead that's your body when you just. Can't. Anymore.

saltare volo
Today, I have done: contacted the Community Housing Office. What's that, I might actually have somewhere to live next year? *FINGERS CROSSED*
...am doing: nothing (no, wait, I'm eating KD. The real kind, not the whole wheat crap. *rebel*)
...will do: try to survive the rest of the day on three hours of sleep

ASLDFKJAS;DL DAMMIT. FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU WORK, WHY IS MY SHIFT SCHEDULED DURING ALL THE COOL EVENTS?! Grrr, not only do I have make up dance classes* that day, but I just got an email about "Queer Inquiry at Queen's: Presents advances in queer research and theory made by Queen's faculty in the fields of psychology, gender studies, religion, and law." aka Queen's profs and stuff talking about queer issues** and I want to gooooooooooooo, but I can't. Watch me D-FACE LIKE ZQ.

*Edited because HOLD THE PHONE, lemme tell you how excited I am for the QDC dance recital coming up Mar. 25 - 27. I AM SO EXCITED. EXCITED LIKE YOU HAVE NO IDEA. ([livejournal.com profile] cherishedsaulie : You don't understaaaaaaaaaaaand!) Our routines are going to be fucking amazing. Inter Lyrical is going to be like phwoarrrr, except also really random, methinks. IDK, I can't really explain the choreography, but it feels kind of disjointed and bunched, if you get what I mean. Nonetheless, it is dance, and it will be so fantastic.

Maybe not as fantastic as our Beginner Hip Hop routine, though. BECAUSE THAT WILL BE EPIC LIKE NOTHING ELSE. I am determined to make it so (m-m-make it so, m-m-m-make it so). I mean, guys, the basic idea of it is "Frat vs Sorority" (coughLIKETHISFICcough) so it already has a baseline level of fantastic awesome. I'm in the "frat" section and IDEK HOW TO EXPRESS HOW EXCITED I AM FOR THIS. We get to learn cool moves and it looks so boss when our instructor shows us how it's going to work that if it were possible to continuously jizz one's pants for days on end, that's what I'd be doing for this recital.

*looks at last sentence* ...Ahem. Well, now that I've completely turned you off all forms of dance, ever...

TL;DR I CANNOT WAIT FOR THIS RECITAL HOLY CRAP

**Yeah, queer issues at Queen's. Sounds like an oxymoron, no?
OMG, so I just found out that the mult. choice part of my Psyc100 exam is not ten questions, but NINETY. OH SHIT, SON. I am so fucked.

BUT! (And I'm going to study, I swear) LOOK!

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG IT'S OUR BEGINNER HIP HOP CLASS AT MINI-RECITAL A;SDLFKJASD EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS TOTALLY MADE MY NIGHT :D

*flails*
I just got back from the QDC Mini-Recital AND ASDFL;KJASD;FL OMFFFFFG IT WAS SOOOO MUCH FUN! I CAN'T WAIT FOR MARCH; THE FINAL'S GONNA BE A BLAST! I was so nervous waiting in the wings, but as soon as I got on stage with the music, there was nothing but the dance. To be honest, the whole performance - Inter Lyrical and Beg Hip Hop combined was maybe five minutes of stage time - went by in a blur. I do, however, remember falling up the stairs as I tried to put my shoes on between sets. But our performances were, it is mutually agreed, completely awesome. I felt so good, up there, just dancing. I LOVE DANCE. ♥

(PS: someday, I'm gonna be up there with the Inter/Advanced Streetjazz class, because they were GQ.)

ALSO IT SNOWED TODAY AND THAT KIND OF MADE MY LIFE. FANTASTICALLY. (And then it melted this afternoon and I was all D-FACE!) But. Snow :D :D

Erm, I have just been informed that my group got a 78 on our most recent econ project. NOT ON DUDE! D:<

However, I spent this morning listening to Christmas music at full blast and dancing around my room. Win. Also, I had lunch randomly with Chuk from french100 who speaks thirteen different languages and we bonded over Jizz In My Pants. More win.

Finally: fencing party tomorrow, I can haz?

PPS: there will eventually be fandom-related shit here. Promise.
Huh.
cut for shot yet essentially boring material... zzzzz )

a;lskdfaeir;n you know those times when the most coherency you're capable of is a *headdesk*? Yeah, that's this.
Well, that was the fastest I've ever heard back from any place I've applied to. I have an interview on Thursday at 7 and if all goes well, I can expect to start on Saturday. Things. They move so fast. *knocks wood*

Also, December 4th is eventually coming up - it's the Mini-Recital for the Queen's Dance Club, and I'm super excited. :D Okay, so maybe Beginner Hip-Hop will pale in comparison with Advanced, but dance is turning into the one thing keeping me sane right now, and I can't wait.

I am also eventually going to catch up on SPN/Merlin. Really. I mean it.

Okay, and last but incredibly jizz-your-pants-worthy: [livejournal.com profile] obstinatrix 's Any Way You Want Me : a 50s!AU, Shatnoy RPF. Amazing. And she just posted the final part last night, which made me squee like a flaily thing.

...ALSO I JUST REALIZED MY ECON CLASS TODAY WAS AT 8:30. IT'S NOW 9:00. GODDAMMIT, WHY SO FAIL? *HEADDESK OF EPIC RAGE*

I'LL BE YOUR FOIL, SIR! )
so I figure I might as well update while I can. Ah, bliss. ...nevermind, I guess my english homework will be neglected. Oh well.

Dancing. I want to learn to dance,  because when I hear music, it makes me want to express that feeling, you know, the one you get when the music is music and it's just right. I want to dance because to me, dancing is a physical manifestation of emotion, of music. Of course, when I think dance, I think dance like gymnastics routine dance, which isn't actually all that bad, but the only type I know how to do.

Dancing, no matter what the type, is beautiful and wonderful and powerful and awe-inspiring, and now that I've bored y'all with this paragraph, I'm going to lurk over at [profile] universe_movie and [profile] backbenttulips. Ta. (ICON!)
